Lol, if I put the fans on my 570 on 100%, I can go to the other end of my house and listen to the jet engine reving up biggrin.gif the temps are amazing at that fan speed though, completely unbearable to be near unfortunately smile.gif

Agreed! My 570 sure was a golden chip... I'm hoping it will sell fairly quickly since that $300 from the 7950 is burning a hole in my pocket until it sells! Couldn't resist an early birthday and christmas gift though, considering my only options for upgrading was either GPU or monitor related.

After some tweaking I've gotten to a playable overclock at decent temps (78C W\ two hours BF3) with the stock cooler at 911MHz core 1900MHz mem @ 1.075 V.
937MHz was playable at 1.088V but temps pushed 90C at times with only 30min of BF3. Time for a cooler upgrade!

I'm making the move to water cooling on Monday (if fed-ex delivers all my parts from frozen-CPU, who by the way shipped my order only 42 min after placing it! Thats awsome) I'm hoping to get a full GPU block in a month or two so Ill hang with what I got. Ill make sure to post what I find though once the the stocker is remover.

Sad day mad.gif I just lost my 570.. Wasn't gaming or benching, just web browsing and poof! Blank screen and reset. The computer will post and show bios and windows flash screen but as soon as windows loads, crash, blue screen of death. I removed the card and and installed in another system and same issue. I'm hoping maybe a bios flash from safe mode which it will boot into with the card installed and the monitor connected to it. Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: No burnt smell or PCB blisters..

Hey, I just read your other thread where you said your goodbyes to the card. Since you're already considering the card dead for good, you might as well try the Alternative Baking Your Card Method. I figure it's worth giving it a shot, and you seem to know your way around a heatsink anyways smile.gif

No dont do that.. Just go get a heatgun from walmart. You can do it like that.. No warranty on the card still? But normally when a GPU dies.. It wont show the boot/bios screen(In my exp) Driver issues?? heat issues?

Just got the rig back together and running. Nothing like a good night of folding to break her in. Bought a new 570 and finished my custom W/C loop so I should be good for a while.. I'll post new pics tomorrow.

Side note: I tried to bake the card and it didn't work. Never flashed the solder. I did however take my heat gun to it and that did work, just hit it on high heat just till the solder flashed and kept working my way across the card and let it cool. Bam! It worked! Well for about an hour and it wet the bed again. It was worth a try though.

I tried baking my card again but a little longer this time. I left it in the 385F over for almost 17min untill the solder flashed(turned shinny). Worked great except two capacitors dropped off the board! At least I know the solder got hot enough.. Let the board cool slowly and re-soldered the capacitors back onto the board. It flipping worked! I've been running the card for three hours now and no issues. YET! I thought for sure I cooked the card because the white labels on the PCB turned brown and curled up on the corners and the dang thing stunk to high heaven but it flipping worked. I dont trust it yet in my main rig but its running great in my kids system.

It's risky for sure and should be a last resort like when you are past rma limits etc. I had a card that needed it and it worked for me too but after I always experienced higher temperatures when gaming and stuff .. And before anyone asks I obviously didn't bake the air cooler and even used better Tim and pads .. Anyways it worked and its better than a total loss for sure !
