GTX 570 overclocking thread - Page 209

Or maybe they did a shoddy job applying the TIM, there's nothing new in that. All manufacturers have a bad batch at some point. I have good temps using the default profile.

When my temp is at 70°C the fan is 100%, making a lot of noise, this is strange for me, maybe can be the ambient temperature, here is 28°C everyday, sometimes 30°C.....

Ambient plays a significant role as well, I have 21C in my room to compare.

Strange... While overclocking my GTX 570, I noticed the scores in Heaven were weird. At 1920 x 1080 with everything turned all the way up, I had my card at stock settings except the core clock.

When my core clock was 800,
FPS:
31.0
Scores:
782
Min FPS:
11.2
Max FPS:
77.4
When my core clock was 820
FPS:
29.5
Scores:
743
Min FPS:
10.5
Max FPS:
72.9

I have no idea how to explain this. I reran the text a few times just to be sure.

Edit: Re-reran the test and they seem to be in order now. I have no idea what I had wrong but whatev!

A question. My Afterburner utility only lets me set the voltage to certain levels. 1013, 1025... and others. It seems to round up and down to certain levels and I'm not sure if this happens to everyone.

I find this is usually caused by a slightly unstable overclock. Have you set your fan profile manually to get better cooling yet? That can help, as well as more voltage of course, but I wouldn't run anything more than 1.1V 24/7, regardless of heat, though others may disagree. You may have stabilized it while playing around with the voltage setting, who knows. If it was only the one time, it could have just been a background process or something.

I am pretty sure that is the norm.

Have a look HERE Quite a few people have put closed loop coolers on their GPU's for a super cheap way to keep things cool.

That uses zip ties but you can get Dwood's brackets that make it look good and it bolts together. Or you can make your own bracket like I did GTX 570 and 470 Closed Loop Cooler Mod

Yeahhhh nice idea, i have a h70 here from my old pc, i will try this "trick".

BUT, the other GPU components, they need to be "cooled" right? My gpu has 3 fans cooling all components, if i install the h70 it will throw air just on the chip, and the rest of the board?

If you use the Dwood brackets, you can get a place to mount a 80 or 92 mm fan over the VRM's. I have a plate that covers the entire pcb (gtx 570) the is a heat sink for the VRM's so I just have a side panel fan blowing over both my cards.
