GTX 570 overclocking thread - Page 27

Does anyone else's GTX 570 make buzzing noises while stressed?

Could something like this be related to my sig rig experiencing it's first BSoD?

Code was:

BCCode: 116
BCP1: 870DF008
BCP2: 8F1A8A9A
BCP3: C000009A
BCP4: 00000004
OS Version: 6_0_6002
Service Pack: 2_0
Product: 256_1

Now I have no freaking idea what caused this BSoD but I do know that I was playing Metro when it happened.

I was using the EVGA SuperClocked clocks of 797/1950 @ 1v with 65% fans.

Could the volts not be high enough and that's why it crashed? This OC ran fine in the Metro benchmark on 6 runs before I attempted to play with it.

EDIT: Just ran GPUTool for 15 minutes at that same exact overclock and the card didn't even break a sweat. Ended up plateauing at 65c with 65% fans so I think it should be safe to assume that heat wasn't the issue with the BSoD.

ARGH!

Just popped 950/2000... waiting for my 3dMark 11 key so I can have PROOF, lol.

^ 950 on the 570 is sweeet, almost 6k with it on my X6, you should be able to get ~6.5k on your i5 760 if OC'd

This effing motherboard is limiting me aka overclocking ability... I should have kept my BIOSTAR because it was the motherboard that was having issues.. it was the damn 2xHD5770's.

My evga 570 running @ 950/2200 on 1.1v, rest of the machine is in my sig.

Here are my results so far, I believe it is stable at lower voltages so i'm working on reducing it as of now. P.S. Low temps are due to EK water block =)

nice temps but weird score gpu.. what cpu are you using?

i got 25k at 950 core

the difference is physx off and on .. thats all you would have a nice score too with it on. don't look at the total score just the GPU score and your's is much higher.

The buzzing noises you describe could very well be the capacitors. It's perfectly normal. From Turtle's guide:
"That squealing or ringing noise you're hearing is the capacitors on your video card. They squeal at times due to the amount of electricity flowing through them. The more electricity, the more apt they are to squeal - or the louder the squeal will get. Some cards will squeal at stock speeds, others at a low overclock, others may not squeal until a massive overclock or at all. Each card is different in this respect.

There is nothing to worry about though - the squeal is not indicative of damage. The worst thing about the squeal is the annoyance. If it is too loud for your liking, tone down your overclock a bit. Knocking the shaders down a strap will normally either reduce or eliminate capacitor squealing."
