I want to make sure the temps aren't crazy though, Idle I get 45 but full load it has maxed out at 91 right now its actually sitting at 42, lowest I have seen it.

Set up a 1%-1c fan profile. Mine idles at 35c and heavy load is 71c. Strange your unlocked 6950 beats it at stock in 3d11. My old 6950 unlock would get 5k stock and 570 stock would get 70-100 more. But yeah both cards overclocked the 570 smokes it. Made my decision to keep the 570 instead easy.

How would I go about doing that? Looking at the fan manual control just throws me off, do I just set up a few increments like you said, and the rest fills in? cause it only lets me put but so many ticks.

Also yah I thought it was weird too, my 570 is getting beat out in everything I have test. In FFXIV it only hit 4095 compared to the unlocked 6950 hitting a bit over 5k. Is there anything else I can look for? I uninstalled drivers and used Driver Sweeper.

I can start a new thread for this, I don't wanna hijack this one. Should I?

I use Afterburner for a fan profile. Not sure if any other programs can.

Yah im using afterburner also. Could you possibly screenshot ur fan profile and send it to me? I set one up and after running 3dmark11 again got the same P6119 but this time max temp hit 76 or 78 cant remember, but a whole lot better.

Hey guys -- I just bought my GTX 570 a couple of days ago, and saw this thread and thought it was a great reference guide, which actually helped a nub like me. Thanks for that! I just had a question, hopefully someone can help me out.

So, when I overclock my 570, I get to a point where sometimes (when using EVGA OC Scanner Benchmark) my score is actually lower than stock? Even though the score on the Benchmark is lower, since the actual clock speeds are higher, would I see a performance gain or no?

Thanks!

I don't use OC Scanner for scoring, but in 3DMark11 I have found several spots where my OC stutters a bit and drops frames. I think it it is all part of the deal, maybe spots where dividers aren't "happy". For example, at 920/2098 my system sings like a songbird, but if I bump the core clock up to 925, it drops framerates by 10% and loses that smooth movement. that goes away if I increase core clock further. Barriers and dead spots are part of the game. Keep trying until you are happy enough to enjoy it.

A little SLI action, was hoping for more, but the 2nd card doesn't clock all that great. Actually managed a 1050 run, but forgot that I had HT turned off. It never ran 1050 again, not even close.

Awesome, so I seem to have my GFX card stable at 885/1770/2100 @ 1.1V .. but I've noticed something.

My performance seems to dip randomly from a stable (ish) 50fps to 20-30 for literally less than a second. This happens on stock and when it's OC'd. Never happened with my GTX 280. Any ideas?

If this only happens when overclocked it could be a sign of an unstable overclock.

Is it all applications that do this?

By the way I managed to get 920/2000 @ 1.1V stable.

No, this seems to happen when it's overclocked and when I leave it on its normal clock speeds.

No matter, I'll most likely use EVGA'S Step up program in a month or two -- get myself a nice GTX 580 or a 680, if it's out by then.

Guys, I just registered to post on this thread - I found the scary thread with dead 570s AFTER placing an order for ASUS DirectCU II GTX570 card. I had serious overclocking shenanigans in mind for this card with it's triple slot cooler..

1st I was like OMG when I saw those blown up mosfets. eek.gif

Then, after some intensive googling, I came up with a photo of the ASUS PCB. That's 8 SMPS circuits there (VRMs for you children). I'm not quite sure how they have laid it out, thought. There's no other obvious SMPS circuits there, althought there are 3 inductor-looking chips near the power input (6pin + 8 pin btw), no fet's there. So lets go with the assumption this is 6+2 configuration, same as GTX580 reference.

This means it should be pretty safe to overvolt this thing as long as I don't go crazy with the memory clocks.. ASUS bios limits the voltage to 1.1V but removes OCP by default. However it seems the ASUS board is rather limited in OC potential. At least this reviewer claims unless you crank up the fan to 90% you can't reach 1v/840MHz in furmark.. I'd say from this picture the reason is that the mosfet cooling is oddly sub-par. They have a separate heat sink from the main heatsink and from the results they got, it can't quite keep up with that 3-slot monstrosity.

So, I think I have a card I can clock pretty safely, but the voltage can't be taken very high. also it looks like this card becomes unstable instead of blowing up.

And, heck, the mosfets ASUS is using are darn sight easier to replace than the reference Nvidia mosfets..

Anyone with Asus DiCU II overclocking results here? Smoke coming out yet? rolleyes.gif
