Yeah I've been wondering this as well, and while I'm a newbie, after like 50 hours of reading and learning I have decided that the ones I feel comfortable with and seem to be trusted by the community are:

-- Afterburner (for OCing and then also running Kombustor for general use)
-- OC Scanner (scanning for artifacts)
-- 3DMark11 (benchmarking, also looping mode for stability)

I don't like ATI Tool because it's producing a coil whine for me, which I was recently informed is due to the high framerate in this program (was somewhere around 2500 fps), and I can just use OC Scanner. I think those above 3 programs give you everything you need. Unless I'm misinformed, it seems unnecessary to test your card with every program out there in existence. Test thoroughly with the few programs you have, and then move on to gaming. I read a thread on here where some guy tested his card in Furmark or OCCT for 16 hours... lol don't do that.

And as far as temperature testing I really think running a game so you know you aren't getting throttled will be best and more practical.

Oh and you can get the Crysis benchmark test and play with that, dunno if its necessary though.

Question for everyone: when overclocking my 570s I get horrible FPS fluctuations in OCCT. It's fine at stock. GPU temp doesn't hit 50c.

GPU load between the two also varies. For example GPU 1 will be 99% load and GPU 2 will be 50% load. The load then transers to GPU 2 and the numbers swap.

How do I prevent this?

I'dd add GPUtool.

GPUtool is better at artifacts checking: 870MHZ/ OCscanner 100% GTX500 load + extreme mode (or whatever it's called)
=> no artifact

GPUtool 870mhz: regular artifacts but MUCH lower temps for some reason

So they replaced my MSI GTX 570, but sent me the OC version. With a stock voltage of .988, stock clocks of 786 and mem 2100.
There is still a very slight buzzing but no where near what i was experiencing under load!
The card seems to run much hotter. Before i was never above low 70s, now low 80s and the fan is working much harder.
Doesnt seem to overclock as well as the last card, as i need 1050mv for a 850 core!
But happy the buzzing is so much quieter!

Well, those seem like enough, but for benchmarking software, the fermi chips seem to throttle themselves, so i could pass OCCT, FurMark, Kombustor, but in-game i'd crash. Also, the more demanding the game, the better the test (my card wouldn't crash within BFBC2, but would within Crysis 2). So my advice would to be to play your most demanding game for 1-2 hours (vsync off) and see how you do

I have the N570GTX-M2D12D5/OC

Anyone else have this one, what kinda overclocks are you getting?
I have had the odd crash in BFBC2 so hoping its not the new card, will do more stability tests
