Is my memory clock of 2000 too high? It seems like 850/2000 is a very common OC setup with the 570. I am using 285.27 beta is that is affecting anything.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

don´t think the drivers are affecting anything... I know my card starts to want a lot of voltage when i bump the memory up to 2000 and beyond, so if you wan´t it at that probably increase voltage. Or decrease it a bit and see if that gets it stable.

No, it's not too high unless it is crashing. That's lower (by like 98 Hz DDR I think) than the Hydro Copper cards that are conservatively overclocked out of the box. There is more to gain (well, in benching anyway) by focusing on the GPU, finding its max, then working the memory up from there- which has been stated repeatedly in this thread. No crashing and no smoke is usually good.

some cards (like mine for example) are able to voltage higher from the beginning... different capacitor /voltage regulation layout or something
post #957 of 2146
I crashed again at 850/2000 with 1.075v. Is BC2 more stress on the GPU than FurMark/OCCT? I run those stress test programs for awhile and no crashes, so I'm assuming its stable, but when it comes to BC2 with vertical sync off, it will crash after ~20mins of play time with temps 77c-80c.

Thats why you should always rely more on actual game testing than artificial testing software...

To clarify what you said before, my crash is most likely due to the high memory clock with not enough voltage?
not exactly. Every card is different and has its individual limit, and often the memory overclocking limit is reached before the core clock limit. And sometimes you have to sacrifice a bit of memory clock in order to be stable with a higher core clock, at least that´s my experience. I have a very hard time getting my 570 stable if i run the memory at 2000 for example.

So you have to experiment with it, or you could just try giving it a ****load of voltage and see if that fixes your crashes but be vary of your temps
