Hard drive and cd drive not detected

Thread Starter
I just made a build for my friend today. We got an Asus m4a79xtd evo. Everything was fine and we got post as well. Only thing was it said the hard drive was not detected and the cd drive didn't work as well. We tried two sets of sata cables and plugged them into different sata ports and still received the same error. Anyone know what the problem is? A faulty hard drive and cd drive or a faulty mobo?

Double check all your BIOS settings.

You can disable drives on most, if not all of the Asus M4A boards.

Make sure the boot order in BIOS is what you want as well.

Try set the sata settings to IDE.

Make sure boot priority is set to HDD or the CD drive. On my M4A, I actually had USB as default...which was strange, but it was a simple fix.
