Desk build

Finally on break for Christmas for the next couple weeks which equals time to build a new desk!

I want a killer desk, thats custom for my needs. I'm running real low on creativity right now so give me any ideas you have and ill see what I think. Not completely sure on what wood I will be using, going to make a run to Lowes here soon. I'm going to wallmount my monitor in the corner as well.

--I've never used sketchup before, sorry in advance!

This is the 3rd version I have - and the one I like the best so far.. Would be corner mounted on my wall(s)

Dimensions are in this, any input on em?

First drawing I did(and the first in Sketchup!):

I sketched everything to scale.. window in my room and walls. I don't like how it overhangs my window though. Thats why I'm going with the 3rd version right now, its flush with the edge of the windows.

Let me know what ya think!

did you use a stud finder to position your braces? there is likely a stud you can mount to on the right side at the edge of the window, and on the left side, id take the length out to the nearest wall stud. good rough sketch. what kind of tools do you have? consistent curves are hard to make unless you have the a good saw. it might be easier to make a 45* section instead of the curve. just a few opinions, hope it helps.

Just finished everything! Turned out really good. I ended up getting a Galant tabletop from Ikea.

Link. - They sell just the top in this color for $110 and white is $70. Rumor is the price is going to drop here real soon though.

Next plans are for ambient lighting, wallmount monitor and this shelf along the top. EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'm going to paint the 2x4 black that is visible.

Thanks!
