Any news for good 10+ button mice coming?

I was just wondering if anybody has heard of any good mice coming out within the next 6 months or so. I've been using my old 8 button G5 for over 4 years now and it's time for an upgrade. I'm looking to get back into BC2 and eagerly awaiting the Guild Wars 2 release and looking for the perfect mouse. I've just been disappointed because most new mice seem to have 7-9 buttons which is pretty lacking IMO. I'm not very coordinated with my left hand, and find it much easier to focus on the WASD while doing everything else with my right hand on the mouse.

I've seen the g500, but didn't like the button layout. Saw the G700, loved the button layout but I've heard bad things about atrocious battery life + stiff usb cord. Saw the X8 but I don't like the ergonomics + size. Saw the ridiculous Razer something-or-other MMO mouse but wasn't impressed with the lack of distinguished button layout/ergonomics.

My ears perked up recently when I saw this monster from steelseries come out: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/review...roduction.html
I'm just not so sure how the driver software will handle profiles for non WoW games, and how easily it will be to switch between profiles.

I was just wondering if anybody had any inside scoop on Logitech/Microsoft/Razer.. etc on any upcoming similar mice.

I play mainly fps games like, mw2, bc2, arma2OA ..etc.
I'm a bad typer, cannot press any other keys than R for reload.
My current solution is using naga.

Cataclysm got my attention too, but I have the same concern about profiles on non-wow games either.
If I buy G700, I would buy a wall charger (comes with extra batteries), just switching batteries to use it wireless. Not to worry about the cable and battery life.

Using Naga needs time to learn of course, but now I'm using at least 10 buttons on every game.
Mouse button layout doesn't seems a problem to me, because I design my own logic button placement. Either my G110 at office or G510 at home. I even retain the same button in various applications or games. (eg. button 5 for knife).

Any new 10+ button mouse coming up? I bet mouse would comes with more and more buttons.
Don't worry, there's always a better mouse in the market every year.
Oops, to answer your question, naga epic coming in 2 weeks.

Sounds like we're the same kinda gamer, how's your research so far?

I definitely gotta say that I like the smaller size of the naga epic. However it seems nearly the same as the original naga I've seen before. I'm usually a muscle memory/reflex type of guy. I like when mice have their buttons strategically placed in areas that distinguish them from each other (like the G700 or steelseries cataclysm)

I don't know if I can train my stubborn brain to be able to figure out which of the 12 side buttons to press in split-second situations without actually looking at the mouse (which would defeat the purpose). I would probably end up just mashing then entire side with my thumb.

Just how easy are those side buttons to push? Do you find yourself accidentally pushing them during regular mouse use, or pushing the wrong ones often?

I'd recommend looking into the Roccat Kone+. It effectively has 22+ buttons, with its easy shift. Aside from that, the Naga Epic is looking pretty good, but I wouldn't want to use it for anything other than WoW.

It is an interesting mouse for sure. The major selling point of the mouse however is the shift+ feature. However, my G5 can do pretty much the same thing with the setpoint software.

Thanks for the suggestions, I had never heard of Roccat before.

I posted about the naga after I bought it earlier. It's not a BC2 mouse, since you don't really need that many buttons. However I think it'd be great for guild wars.

For a big guy, Naga seems a little bit small, even to my small hand, still feel small. As I said, let's try Naga Epic the extended left side-panel fits better to our hand.

You may accidentally press the buttons before training, but you can feel the click when pressed. After training I lift the mouse to turn 360 like 30 times in game, buttons become a good grip for my thumb.

Yes, you will press the wrong buttons. I hold a medic pack when I want to knife enemies, end up got killed. I want to change weapon but throwing a grenade to a wall bounces back to me, blow myself up. I'm sitting in a chopper want to check my inventory, but eject from it fell to dead.
I draw a sticky beside my monitor show how the buttons are assigned. After go thru all these it becomes my normal reflex. No need to see the sticky.
Now I use 10 buttons on bc2v, arma2:OA (complicated game).
I can have my best split second to reload, change weapons, look at the mini map, eject from a vehicle or plane... etc.

Really enjoy my eyes never leave the monitor when gaming.
I must admit I'm a really bad typer, that's why I need a 10+ button mouse
Besides Naga, I use G510 macros and triple foot switch to play games.
You can tell how bad my typing is

And it helps my daily surfing & computing too. It saves me lota left hand keyboard shortcuts

Thanks for the indepth analysis. I am a bad typer myself as well. I've been using computers since I got my first one when I was 12 (25 now) and still haven't been able to teach myself to type properly. I usually use like 4-5 fingers total to type (3 on left 2 on right).. it's rather odd but it works for me. So naturally I had the same rationality to wanting more mice buttons.

Unfortunately the market is pretty barren in the 10+ button market. Even more so in the gaming wireless category, which I'm leaning more towards over wired for my upcoming build in which I'm going to splurge and get a nice comfy recliner and game in that. I just bought the Logitech G13 gameboard and looking to pair it with a nice wireless mouse.

My choices are limited to the Microsoft X8, Logitech G700, Naga Epic, Razer Mamba, R.A.T. 9, Roccat Pyra

I've heard bad things about the G700 battery life (I know you can get a bunch of rechargeables but I honestly don't want to be fiddling with batteries every 2-3 hours), and the Mamba + R.A.T. 9 having tracking issues. I don't know... maybe something cool will come from CES2011.

Don't worry too much about the negative issues on those mouse. I bet you must have some other gadgets that work perfectly while other people are crying for problems.
Best bet is, try them from friends, conventions if possible, buy in national yellow or red retail stores. We have 14 days refund
Omg! I'm a 4-fingers typer
According to your choices:
Microsoft X8, I don't like the ergonomic (no offense)
Logitech G700, I was gonna buy it, but just the right time I found out naga epic. I don't think we have to swap batteries every 2-3 hours. Maybe 6 hours gaming? I don't go to lan games very often. So I don't mind.
Naga Epic, still wanna see if the left side panel can rest my ring finger & pinky like ikari (ikari is my most comfy mouse ATM)
Razer Mamba, not enough buttons
R.A.T. 9, I don't like the ergonomic, and I wonder its getting cold in the winter like my mouse-pad SX (I live kinda up north)
Roccat Pyra, I have Roccat Sota, I like the brand, but still not enough buttons.

You're right! Let's wait till CES2011

BTW, how's G13 for bc2 gaming? bc2v is insane! I want to have 3 hands
How's your learning stories? Please give me indepth analysis.
Thank you in advance
