Cant overclock G0 q6600 to 2.8 even at 1.5V! - Page 2

I used to have the same mobo as you (and I still have my Q6600).

Give up. You will never find a stable OC with that board and CPU combo. I tried for literally 3 years. Its not going to happen, ever.

But maybe u should try increasing the CPIe frequency one or two Mhz's.

The highest I got my Q6600 was 2.9.
You may find some useful tips in that thread.

Ok nevermindd, then I will be stuck forever in 2.4 I'm not going to put any effort to reach 2.8 or 2.9. A 10%-15% wont be even noticeable, and it's not worth the time

This mobo sucks for quad cores.

Also, if you have a less than high quality power supply the overclocking will never go smoothly. Your PSU may not have enough power to supply your GPU and OCed CPU at the same time.

Another thing to consider is if you have a later model Q6600 with a high vid.
The later model Q66's were not good clockers, and the combination of that board and a not so good Q66 would just be a giant headache.

I'm not trying to discourage you, but that is one of the most frustrating boards I have ever owned.

Good luck!

i have a Q6600 1.325vid, EVGA 750i, runs fine at 2.60GHz 1.200v, but it wont run 2.7 at any voltage, which is incredibly annoying since it runs (prime95 blend) at 2.4GHz fine with just 1.092v

time to swap out for my GA-G31M-ES2L mATX board, only has a 4-pin CPU header and only goes to 1.6vcore, but i can do almost all of my clocking within windows thanks to EasyTune
