Is my CPU bottlenecking?

Thread Starter
I cannot play my Wii games on PC. I have this CPU stable @ 3.7 and yet...I cannot max any Wii game. Well, only games I've tested were Sonic Colors, DKCR, and New Super Mario Bros. As you guys know, Dolphin is a CPU-intense emulator...I'm sure that my CPU is more than enough to meet the standards of it. But its not. And the funny thing is, I see people of lesser specs running their games at max framerates. Let me add that I can run my PS2 games, and Gamecube games at max frames. What is going on?

PHII bottlenecking a 8800gt, you wish! emulators are generally laggy, if you want to play them, buy a 980x and put it to like 5ghz. for anything else, it's fine.

To help you, try running them in windows XP mode, 32 bit mode, admin rights, etc, check fullscreen, compare

High-end emulators are FAR more CPU-Dependent then just using a graphics card. So I don't think its my graphics card's fault.

Why not just download a program to check gpu load? GPU-z for example shows you gpu load. If you are at 100% gpu load and cpu isn't loaded 100% then you are gpu limited.

I'm gpu limited in pcsx2 with Gran Turismo 4 so you need some gpu power at least.

8800 is still good. And I bet I can max out GT4 if I got it. PCSX2 is cake.

Brandontaz2k2, PM him, you can't talk about piracy on the thread, but if he is gonna answer you, OP send me a PM too regarding what ^^ said.

It's not bottlenecking, it's just bad FPS because it's more CPU dependent. bottlenecking is where 1 component cant go 100% cause of something else, and that game just uses too much CPU, the GPU idles

GT4 is a lot more demanding game than many others. I can max other PS2 games I have. But back to the subject: Check gpu and cpu loads when playing with Dolphin. That's the way to answer your question.
