6850 or 5850?

Hi all (Long time lurker, first time poster).

I'm basically looking for an upgrade to my GTX 260 65nm and figured since prices are finally dropping in the UK now would be a good time for an upgrade.

The cards in question: (both roughly the same price)

5850: http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=pro...4&prod_no=2029
6850: http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=pro...0&prod_no=2180

I have done a bit of research on both cards and the 6850 seems to be 10 - 15% slower than the 5850, but I was wondering if things would change when drivers got better? The other issues im concerned about would be heat output of the 5850 since my cases airflow isnt all that good... plus since my PSU only has a 6 pin and a 8 pin, so the 6850 would leave me more breathing room for upgrading.

I guess im leaning towards the 6850 but im looking for people to convince me otherwise.

The 6850 is the replacement card for the 5750. They slightly upped the numbers in re-naming.

The 5850 is going to be quicker.

If you can Crossfire, get two 6850's. If not, a single 5850 is still faster.

Thanks for the input people .

My budget only allows me to buy a single card at this time :/. And I don't really buy new hardware often although I like the option to upgrade.

I also noticed that the 5850 only has 1 dvi port and since both of my monitors im using are old as hell (or cheap if you prefer) they only take vga. Would I still be able to use some sort of adapter via display port to vga or would I be out of luck there?
