Is my CPU dieing??

Thread Starter
My CPU is set at a multiplier of x19.5 and a FSB of 210Mhz all from the BIOS producing 4.1Ghz, I have cool n quite disabled in my BIOS and other CPU throttleing featuers disbaled. for some reason most of my programs show the CPU defaulting at x15 Multiplier. Even while gaming its stuck at x15. The only program reading 4.1Ghz is the All CPU Meter... I cant get a temp reading from my processor either.. all of this started this morning, there were no problems before. Here is the screen shot of the wierdness.

Write down all your settings for your overclock, and then reset the BIOS.

never seen that before thats freaky. My first guess would be your sensor is out of wack and resetting the bios should fix it.

I set stock speeds and tested in CineBench, Then i set overclock speeds and tested in CineBench, same results??? Numbers 1-5 are CPUs that i can never hope to get. Number 6 is at 3.92Ghz when the computer was running fine, and you can see the diffrence! Number 7 is overclocked to 4Ghz and number 8 is stock. what is going on!!!!

just use cpu-z for detecting clocks and I would use hwmonitor, coretemp, or realtemp for temperatures. Revert everything to stock and use these then see if you have aproblem. If you dont on stock but do on overclock u might want to look at a new bios update

yes look at a bios update. If there isnt one available on asus website contact them. I am sure they will rma for a problem like that. I wouldnt overclock without knowing my temps and readings are right.

I found the problem, AMD Over Drive was making the CPU default to x15 at startup, i disabled AOD and all is fine : )
