Fan broken on evga e-geforce 8600.

I still have the heatsink and such, the fan that was originally on it was a little thing probably a 20-40mm. Really small didn't even drop temp's.

At the time the card was idiling at around 59c, it crashes at 66c or so. (Begins to snow on my monitors )

I took the fan off at first and temps dropped. I put the fan back on and just left the plastic casing off the card, and temps dropped further. Well one day I was doing a full clean of dust and "polishing" my components, to show it off to my uncle and to get it clean because dust was caked on it. (I'm also running this all in an antec900)

A cord hit the fan, the fan shattered (as I said very small ran at like 2000RPM, cheaply made plastic/acrylic?) Anywhom, the fan shattered and I as left without a fan this lasted a few months before I modded my old stock athalon x2 fan on it. This made temps drop below 50c... 100% load for an hour and it was at 58c. I was surely happy until it kept falling off the card (Electric tape isn't very sticky). So the fan one day fell off and I didn't notice and the blade broke, surely I could stick it on there but then it'd be uneven and I don't like my computer shaking and buzzing.

So now I'm stuck in a delima.
I don't even know what to get as a correct fan.

I just need a heatsink and fan that will fit on the card or a fan I can mod to it, preferably a slimfactor fan but not like 120mm Lol. The stock cpu fan I modded to it was an 80mm. but was bulky in tallness. (Reason being the slim factor is I have a few pci slots taken up.

There are a few aftermarket options. What is your budget and location so we could give some suggestions.

edit: or just get one of THESE for $7 shipped. Not the greatest cooler, but will work just fine for the 8600GT (I have one on a 7300GT and it works just fine, dropped the temp 15°C compared to the stock cooler it came with). Only problem is shipping takes about 3 weeks.

Makes sure you compare the cost of whatever replacement cooler your considering vs a new card. Its pretty easy to find something that would be a significant upgrade from an 8600gt for < $50.

$20-30 maximum. That cooler doesn't look like it'll fit, I'll try to take a pic of the funky screw pattern later.

Yeah never mind I'll just get a new card for Christmas ;D

Any ideas? Particularly in the decent card/decent temps. Don't want to be playing a game and my card makes it snow or even worse burns it self out.

That cooler will fit any reference 8600GT (I don't think there are any non-reference cards?).
That cooler is a knockoff of a VF700, which fits your card.

For $30, save up another $10-20 and get a new card.

Again, knowing your location (at least country) would help us give you suggestions as to what to get.

Budget? Most cards don't artifact until up to around 100C so don't need to worry about that too much. I think you card is just special.

My HD3850 runs at 85C max in games. (Equivalent card to yours I think)

Yeah mine makes snow on the screen around 66-74c... Idk it's retarded.

Honestly I need a new card anyways.

Budget being around $75. Since I already have to put a new psu or board in my comp.
Would prefer an HD series but nvidia is fine too.

Dont know anything about your PSU, ect. But I would wager an 4670 or gt240 have about the same power requirements and would be an upgrade.
