LOL 26 only? In California, I have to pay 40 cents per KW/h after my 300% baseline of 250 KW/h. I average .37 per kw/h monthly.

Before I start responding to you, I've gotta say that you NEED to stop listening to Fox news. Your Cali hate and stereotyping is off the charts.

Cali's notorious budget issues every year were because it was required to pass with a supermajority. We were the only state in the nation that required it. We voted it down this year so that's no longer a problem anymore.

Yet another example you've been listening to Fox, you roll out the same "blame unions, high taxes and liberal politicians" when really, none of the three will have any hand in this. BTW, prices on your electricity are most likely controlled by a private company, so blame THEM first.

A porch light? I'd of gone with people who use hot water all the time or have their heat or AC on constantly. A porch light is like 20 watts these days, whereas your water heater or your Central H&A routinely gobble down 6-10Kw/hr

I would think a nuclear plant in California to be impossible, because of all the hippies whining why we don't live in grass huts, and live off of eating shrubberies like them!
This topic has already been beat to death on OCN multiple times. Nuclear is not a real option. Storing the waste for 100,000 years is not better.

Not only that but there was already an article posted on OCN that the price of Nuclear is higher than solar anyways.

Why would you? Anything is certainly possible. It's always the people who disrespectfully dismiss others' concerns that end up looking like complete idiots 20-40 yrs later.

Whose to say that in 30 years we won't find out that using cell phones for large portions of the day over the course of 20 yrs might double your chance at a tumor or intense migraines?

I'm close to calling BS on this one. Whose your energy provider? I have SMUD and my rates are <700 @ $.09 KW/h, >700 @ $.18 KW/h.

i am sorry but i do watch fox news. Funny how they are #1 most watched new and highest rating. The really funny thing is I have been in California most of my life, and what i find stupid is when the liberals start entitlement spending..and Arnold wasn't any better because he was allowing himself to be steamrolled by the stupid state legislature and the unions....

What I find stupid about the unions are all they do is fricken QQ about getting more and more money, we cannot afford to pay people 35bucks an hour and also pay for exorbitant stupid business fees and taxes that are imposed by the state government.

You are also wrong about cell phones. First, I know people in my family who are EEE and are on design teams for cell phones. They are within the okay range for someone to use them for 100 years without getting cancer or other health aliments. Secondly, the cell phone doesn't get hot enough and if you use it smashed to your face then you might in 30 years. I am more worried about getting hit by some stupid driver than cell phones.

The last thing I am going to say is even the left wing sac bee said fairy jerry is owned by the unions.

Also, if say 80% of california's leave their porch light on...and it uses 50watts an hour, that is like 25,000,000 watts per hour wasted. Don't even get me started on stupid buildings that leave their lights on, or like how my college leaves all their computers on and all they are doing is running idle the entire time. Not even doing anything productive 50% of the day..!

I'm still waiting for the death ray *cough* solar collector that beams electricity to earth via microwave beam.

i would like to think of this new thing as the cure, but I find that unless we become aware and become smart on wasting resources like electricity, we will never be able to get our energy problems in California under control.

I take the analogy, if you have a gallon of water with a hole in it and it is pouring out onto the ground, this molten salt solar energy plant, is like putting more water on top to keep the gallon full, it will never keep the gallon from leaking it just keeps it full. Instead what we should do is plug the hole, and then deal with newer technology. I think better hibernation mode for appliances and more efficient lights are the way to go, because in the end. Demand always trumps supply.

I wonder how well it will pay off? Hopefully they design this thing to be the most efficient it can be, allowing for more funding towards other areas and thus kick start the solar farm revolution. Or not...

Molten salt is an excellent idea though.

This doesn't have anything to do with the topic AND talking politics is against the TOS.

Well as much as Fox seems to have you brainwashed, I'd have to ask you how unions became the enemy. Yeah, if you give ANY self-interest group too much power and they can create issues and unions are definitely not the exception but IMO, the bigger issue right now is corporations simultaneously pleading poverty AND paying such incredibly exorbitant executive compensation. Look at a chart detailing the last 20 years of employee compensation and you'll see where the real issue is.

Look at the average CEO retirement package, A.k.a. Golden parachute, and you'll get a better idea.

No, I'm not wrong because I never said there was or was not an issue. I merely did the smart thing and acknowledged that modern science doesn't know everything there is to know regarding the human body. IE, I keep an open mind.

While the people in your family are EEE and on design teams, they are not in the medical field, thus they don't know anything beyond what the company tells them regarding the product.

Once again, this doesn't even factor into the topic at hand and is against TOS. Besides, no one wanted to elect him again but Meg was worse.

Are we experiencing rolling blackouts or brownouts? No, we're perfectly fine, so I don't get why this matters to you so much.

Again, before you talk about insigificant things like porch lights, you might want to pay more attention to the AC/Heat that people use or the amount of hot water. Remember this equation.

.02Kw/H < 8Kw/H

That means you'd have to run that oh so important porch light for 400 hrs to catch up with what 1 single AC/Heat or Water Heater unit does in an hour.
