While I already think I have a pretty good idea on my plans, I'd like to get some other input, which is where you come in.

I originally found a heck of a dell on a 23" Apple Cinema Display, 1920x1200 in fairly decent shape. Shortly there after, the power brick failed so I had to buy a new one from overseas. In the meantime, I purchased a 24" Samsung BX 2440, 1920x1080. Now I have both fully functional, want to remain with a single monitor, and am trying to decide which one to keep.

Sure the panel in the Apple is better (IPS I believe), but I'm not certain I care enough to keep it versus the $300 or so it could put into my pocket.

Also, do not judge by the cables in the photos...both were just quickly thrown on the desk and could certainly use some work before finalizing.

I can tell just from the pictures that I would use the apple.

Its sharper and I bet the image will be crystal clear.

I'd keep the Samsung. $300 is better than what you'd get for the Samsung, plus in my opinion it looks better on your desk.

Apple? Samsung no questions asked.

Loving the IDIOTIC bias against Apple here.

1) the Apple, like all Apple displays, is an IPS panel. An IPS panel, regardless of brand, will ALWAYS win over a crappy TN panel.

2) It really depends on the application the OP is wanting to use it in. For anything apart from gaming, you'd want the Apple due to the better quality picture however due to the high response rate, it may not be ideal for gaming.

Yes, I dislike Apple too, but really, I dislike them for legitimate reasons that I can explain, but just blind hate. Like every other brand, there are good products and bad products from them.

I'd rather trust an informed opinion than a mass of ill informed bias ones. Quality, not quantity.

And no, I don't own any Apple products. Not cuz I hate Apple. But more there are better products for the money out there, depending on product.
Tbh, the amount of Samsung fetish-like love in this sub-forum and the silly informed opinions gets annoying at times. Is the Apple Cinema Displays overpriced? Mostly yes. Will it likely be better than the Samsung? Yes. Who voted no has actually used an Apple Cinema Display for a decent period of time and has knowledge on monitors and experience with monitors like me? Anyone? Didn't think so.

The Apples tend to have better CCFL backlights than other IPS panel monitors as well.

Judge the product, NOT the brand it's associated with. Fanboism, like blind brand hate, is silly and stupid. Brands don't matter in monitors anyway, as the panels are OEM'ed left, right and centre.

TL;DR: The Apple.

I agree with you on most of your logic, however you're way out of line. First off, calling everyone idiotic. At most, people are misinformed.

Secondly, you're making an argument for the Apple screen being better. For nearly all applications, you're right, but that wasn't exactly what this was based at. You hit the nail on the head on your arguments, but did not take into consideration the resale value I tried to hint at in the OP. My bad for not spelling it out explicitly, but the fact remains the Apple stands to put a wad of cash in my pocket where as the Samsung does not.

Otherwise, fairly on point.

...It's the proper forum because it's the forum I most enjoy. Bias exists. Sifting through all of it is a necessity.

if you do decide to sell the apple I would love a third, That said I would look at my finances and make the decision based purely on a monetary basis if the money is all that matters.

all of that being said, I absolutely love my apple monitors and feel as though the comparison between them and a Samsung is like comparing say akg k701s to akg K 171 MK II, they are both a higher end product, but one is clearly better and they should be treated accordingly.

(sorry for the poor grammar and punctuation, I have a nasty hangover)
