Yeah, after looking closer you really only need a decent 350W PSU to power that rig...without much OCing though. Even so I agree that a 600W would have been WAY more than enough.

For example (I know its not in pounds but its an example):

With only 1 pcie lane he'll never be able to crossfire anyway.
That 1000 watts will never be used.
If you can still change this build, change the mobo. proc, video card, psu.
Case is also a bit pricey and really big for the rig that is going inside there lol

5770 is fine for that. Two 5970's only require an 850W PSU. You definitely don't need it.

Get faster RAM! 1600mhz and cl9 is barely middle range.

Is that case important? The price is way too high for it imo. NZXT Beta Evo / M50 / Antec 300 are good cases and way cheaper.
Get a Quad Core please, i5 750 should be cheap by now.
Asus P7P55D-E Pro it's a full atx board and it's way more future proof than that mATX thing.
Get a cooler master hyper212+ and remove the Frio. Invest the difference into a HD6850.
Get a 800W psu, that would be future proof enough.

future proof on a dead (well almost dead) socket? you do know that intel will stop making 1156 cpus ... so it wouldnt really be future proof

This is what I would get.

This costs less than the system you have listed and will outperform it, not to mention there is a SSD to make your OS go blazing fast.

I presume he would want to overclock but if not get something like a hyper 212 and spend the difference on a better case.

but to be honest I would give it like 22 days for sandybridge to come out.
