My daughters first computer - Page 6

Thats great... I remember for my 10th or 11th birthday my father built me a PC.... but nothing to the extent of what you went through for her...

It would have been awesome to have been able to customize it and put it together like you guys did... maybe then i would have respected it a little bit more haha...

I'll highly recommend from experience that child lock stuff haha....
I got in a lot of trouble as a kid from that computer

With a girl, you aren't worried about them getting into bad stuff, it is more about what other people want with her.

Girls don't typically have issues with porn, just guys.
It is the perverts out there that you have to worry about.

get a copy of 7 and use the parental controls on there.
they work beautifully.

I never thought about the parental controls on 7.Might need to look into that.

yea, I have 7 on my kids and it works well. Allows to set use times and program restrictions.
Also make sure no matter which OS you use to set her as a regular user, not an admin.

You can do the same thing in XP, it's just a bit more difficult to do so. You need to use the Group Policy Editor and jump through a few hoops but it can still be done.
