GTX 470 > 6870 > 5850 > GTX 460

I am pretty sure that's how it goes.
For single cards get the 470, if you plan on multi gpu get the 6870s. Crossfire has been scaling at like 1.9x-2.0x lately.

470 and 6870 are nearly equals in performance. However, the 470 also runs extremely hot, consumers a lot more power, and makes more noise. Between these two, I would go with the 6870, especially if you plan on Crossfiring in the future.

The best high-end bang for your buck card at the moment is the 6850. They are around $150 and hopefully dropping even more right now. They are overclocking monsters and in Crossfire, they perform wonderfully. Normally, they achieve 95-100% Scaling. They also only require one PCI-E Connector making it far easier to Crossfire them on a PSU and they are great cards overall.

GTX 470 and an AMD 6870 are equal? Not at all... I've owned both cards and my GTX 470 wins hands down, it has a lot more overclock headroom than my 6870s. Runs hot? 35C idle and 65C while gaming and 75C using Furmark. I don't think thats hot at all. Loud? my 6870's sound very loud at 50%+ with my GTX 470 the fan doesn't get loud until 70% and while gaming the fan can be at 55%-65%. Consumes more power... true, worth the performance over a 6870? I don't think so.

What??? GTX470 runs way hot. I am only inserting this photo because I tried it and was willing to pay $150 more for the same performance since it ran so hot. It came with a sticker that said I could get burnt (no BS), no other card I have owned has. The heat was insain.

I would never buy a 470 again but for some will due to current pricing.

BTW, good Fermi = GTX570!

You probably didn't download EVGA precision and change the fan profile... All cards should have a warning.
