Would the framerates be perfect?
GTA runs quite smooth with my Q9650 at 4.15ghz and 6970 being at 925 core and 1510 memory. I have it all maxed out, traffic being at 1 at 1920 x 1200 and i sometimes dip into 25s when its raining heavily.
There is a bug with the drivers, when it rains, some of the rain drops are relapsed with those lights you see on the planes blinking far off in the distance, gets bit weird...
Make sure you put this into the commandline: -memrestrict 2122317824
It would force the engine to use all 2GB of vram, which would eliminate all texture popins. I could go in further detail why you need that commandline if you like.

@sub50hz. How much percentage power increase did you need to run your current overclock?
If i was to use afterburner and set those clocks, surely it will end in a error with CCC if i go above the limit in CCC right? It has done with previous cards. And i find msi auto fan never works that well.

Is it possible to set the clocks in MSI and use auto fan in CCC without any errors?

I don't see why not, although AB allows you to define a fan curve.

I ran 980/1500 with heaven max out. Easy! However, i ran the default settings on heaven and the system hung? Could i just need more power usage me thinks??/ I will try it.

My new 6970. I'm liking it so far. Haven't had the chance to overclock it yet.. ill probably wait until I get a water block for it and volt mod it. Ive had every ATI/AMD series card scene the X1800XL I bought years ago. They haven't failed me yet!! I'm so impressed with this card I think I'm going to get another one for X-fire. All of the reviews Ive seen put X-Fire 6970s on par with GTX 580SLI.
