They should get all of that prefetching done in the background . I doubt the card is at 100% load, and even if so , boldly claim that the memory controller simply cannot be @ 100% load ALL THE TIME.. Game devs should emulate a few top end cards from both camps - find these 'low-traffic' periods and begin prefetching textures ..
Now I don;'t know what your system is limited by , a hard drive's stutter or AV ruining file access times?? no Clue.

There is a bug with the drivers, when it rains, some of the rain drops are relapsed with those lights you see on the planes blinking far off in the distance, gets bit weird...
Make sure you put this into the commandline: -memrestrict 2122317824
It would force the engine to use all 2GB of vram, which would eliminate all texture popins. I could go in further detail why you need that commandline if you like.
Thats nice ^
thanks!

I don't want to sound like a fanboy or anything but I don't think there's any quality problems with their cards. Sometimes a card will go bad. If you've been modding and overclocking you takes your chances.

This is the reason I don't overclock my cards (at least not past 6970 stock specs). I can't afford to replace them.
^ ditto , I didn't flash the 6970 bios for the SAME reason!

I *broke* my 6850 - kinda dropped it with an AC Accelero S1 rev2 mounted on it W/ the Vrm001 heatsinks stuck on w/ thermal EPOXY !

Took some time to disassemble and CLEAN it , though the epoxy residues were evident , mounted the stock cooler ( and somehow couldn't quite place the two extra rivets) and sent it off to MSI , 2 weeks thus , had a credit note with the mandatory -15% restocking fee
whaat fun!
got a 6950 instead , the cooler's so good , not switching to the accelero !

Anyhow ! Companies like XFX are totally enthusiast friendly ,they'll permit aftermarket coolers! And the same w/ sapphire I believe - they DO let you reseat the HSF and clean it etc ( basically means the same as XFX) but then Asus and MSI aren't so friendly --
The safest way out would be this - make sure you have thermal pads - those patch style thermal greases and use it incase the GFX goes for a six.
That way a technitian won't even doubt you!

DON't keep the card sparkly and clean !
Make sure you don't visibly fudge it ( volt modders!! )
And You should be good!

After all , companies like MSI , sapphire , and Asus ship OC;ing software w/ their products - they know what they're getting themselves into .

At the end of the day , if the RMA goes sount , its YOUR fault
OC'ing comes with a big disclaimer ! Voids the warranty!

Any help on this - I have a set of 19inch and 21 inch lcds. now , any way I could game on both or am I plain dumb ? just demonstratively ?
One's 900p the other 1080p. no led backlights how sad!

My SSD cleared the issues up along with newer drivers for the 6970's.

Even if it doesn't, that system will beat all games down to the ground

Its a reference and the recent newegg reviews are saying they do, still crossing my fingers. I waited almost a month to get my 3rd card back into my rig and I had to put up w/ the stock cooler since then.

edit: im running triple monitors so the 3rd will help get that extra edge I need.

Simple logic -- say 1550 is the point at which errors get induced , then , at that rate , 1550 > 1580 cause of the ECC overhead.
Just wanted to know if that applies, it sure did on my 6850 @ 1185 ->1200

Anyway these chips are rated for a lot less -5Ghz , nice to see people pulling off 6+Ghz on them
EPIC WIN IMO!
more about the ECC on these 68/69xx cards from the previous thread I got myself involved in

Thanks, but I'm quite comfy at regular volts at the moment. My 975/1125 feels pretty snappy to me in games and while I'd push for a bit more memory, I have a feeling it's temperature and not voltage limiting it and ECC brings down FPS without artefacting.

Perhaps 24 hours is a bit much, but you should still test for more than fifteen minutes. I found that my memory overclock (before I lowered it back to 1125) wasn't perfectly stable, but I didn't find it by running a stress test for 15 minutes. The ECC memory kept working fine, and they don't seem to test memory overclocks well enough (even OCCT doesn't). For some reason, being in a game that constantly had to update what was stored in the vRAM caused huge stuttering at times that I eventually put down to a vRAM problem after a half hour/hour's stress testing followed by benchmarking in the Heaven Benchmark at different overclocks.
^ Don't read the full post, it's mostly full of OC info for nubs

So 1580 is stepping into scary territory ! If the benches fail , that's beyond the ECC capability! ECC is NOT bulletproof ! Learn a bit about it .. something about parity being only THAT accurate..

Come down to 1510-something ? These chips were rated for 1250 lol even 1500 is a 20% increase ! Wo HHOO!
If anything , 15K surely keeps the GPU satisfied. Any more and I'll have to steal someone's 6970 .. btw, 6970 users are also topping out @ about 1530-some.. so this OC rocks as it is .. IM MAD!
