Yep.
Anyway still no 11.7's tonight? Must be still working on C2.

So I'm not too up to date on AMD cards. I think I might want a 6950 or two. What's the deal with them, I see people saying reference models are actually preferred, and you can't OC much (if at all) with Afterburner.

I was thinking about the Twin Frozr III model for quietness and the cooling

Just picked up an XFX 6970 this week with intentions of adding a waterblock. I had read around the boards most companies including XFX may not specifically allow it, but you could get away with installing a waterblock. Only caveat was having to reinstall the original heat sink if you needed to RMA. Well the card I got today had stickers over the screws that voided my warranty by unscrewing them. Just thought I would post it here in case anyone was thinking of getting XFX and expecting a lifetime warranty on water. Specific model here

wolzen: Nice card!
Could you please measure for me, how many mm's the additional height of the card is, over screwing part of the backplate? Thx.

I have the TF 3 . Best 6950 on the market !!!
WOhOO
1250 -> 1620MHz on the VRAM w/o ECC problems.
Core -> 965 MAX @ 1.275 ( could do higher , no point..) Stable also at 935@ 1.245 hehe THATS ALL CORE UNLOCKEd _> 1536 shaders.. thats a good increase over 1408 !! Seriously.
BTW, with stock shaders I I 've done > 1Ghz on the core

epic card

The reason a lot of people prefer the reference 6950 is because it has the BIOS switch that allows you to unlock the additional shaders. You can essentially turn the 6950 into a 6970 with lower-rated GDDR5. This is what I did with both of my 6950's and both unlocked just fine.

And you actually can OC just fine in Afterburner. You just need to do the Afterburner Unofficial Overclocking EULA mod to the .cfg file to raise the clockspeed limits.

But yeah, the reference cooler is pretty freakin loud under load. If you care more about low noise than high performance, the Twin Frozr III is probably a better choice.

I see. I'm not interested in unlocking since two 6950's should provide plenty of power even at stock speeds. I assume I don't have to do any .cfg modding to run the pre-OC'd TFIII? I can't really see myself OC'ing higher than the factory clocks.

From AMD support!

AMD Engineering is aware of the performance issues with Crysis 2 and working on them.

There is no way to confirm if/when the issues will be fixed ahead of the driver posting and release notes.

Catalyst 11.7 drivers will more than likely not be posted until closer to the end of the month
