Is ATITool a good utility for overclock stability testing?
Also, for how long should I run it to test overclock without damaging my card (since it is a regular ref with 4 phases)

I adjusted the fan speed ramp using After Burner. I have both my 6970 and my 6950 running the same ramp, and it has cooled my cards considerably at the cost of more fan noise when the cards are operating at high load.

I have flashed my 6950 with the 6970 BIOS and I cannot tell from GPUz which card is which. You can unlock the 6950 and change the clock speeds and enable the extra shaders without flashing it with the 6970 BIOS. Your card has the extra shaders enabled (1536).

Try furmark. It will at least tell you if the card is a real 6950 or a 6970 (see image below).

You can see in the Furmark window that it correctly identifies my 6950 even though I have flashed it with the 6970 BIOS. I'm afraid I'm not really sure how to tell if the 6970 BIOS is in your card right now, but if it's a real 6970 Furmark will tell you. With GPUz, the only way I can tell which card I am looking at is that my Primary card runs on a different monitor and CPUz will identify the monitor with the card. Also, where it says "Crossfire Disabled" at the bottom, you know that's the 2ndary card. The primary card says "Crossfire Enabled", other than that they look identical in GPUz.

The unlockable reference cards are great cards, but the Frozr cards are great cards too. Tough choice you have there.

My 6950 TFIII (@860/1325) still crashes in games after 1-2 hours gaming with *driver recovery* or something else. Think I should bring it back to market.

Need some suggestions.

I currently have a 6970 with 2 monitors set up. I'm looking at getting a 3rd monitor and will want to get another card to Crossfire.

I have a few different options.

Would I be better off just getting a 6950/6970 to Xfire with my current 6970?

Or

Should I get a 6990 to Trifire it with my 6970 OR

Should I get a 6990 for the 3 monitor set up and put my current 6970 in my SB machine so I can get rid of the old 8800GTS I have in that one??

Any suggestions are welcome.

Also my big thing is I've got a custom loop as well so if I got a 6990 and left JUST that in there, I'd be cutting down on costs of getting more parts for the loop.

Basically I'm leaning towards just a 6990 in my sig rig for Eyefinity with 3 monitors. But I'll also do Xfire/Trifire if I have to. Any help is appreciated :]
