I have a few different options.
Would I be better off just getting a 6950/6970 to Xfire with my current 6970?
Should I get a 6990 to Trifire it with my 6970 OR
Should I get a 6990 for the 3 monitor set up and put my current 6970 in my SB machine so I can get rid of the old 8800GTS I have in that one??
Any suggestions are welcome.
Also my big thing is I've got a custom loop as well so if I got a 6990 and left JUST that in there, I'd be cutting down on costs of getting more parts for the loop.
Basically I'm leaning towards just a 6990 in my sig rig for Eyefinity with 3 monitors. But I'll also do Xfire/Trifire if I have to. Any help is appreciated :]
Something to think about for Eyefinity is that not only does it not work in every game (of course) but it really increases the resolution your system is pushing and the horsepower required to to manage it. I've seen some people complain that they don't get very good frame rates with Eyefinity. They say it's playable but of course they get much better frame rates with one monitor and crossfire.
So, in your position, I would add another 6970 or even a 6990 with your current card to really get great frame rates when using Eyefinity. I think if you're spending the money for the awesome three monitor display and gaming, then I would want to support it with hardware that can handle higher resolutions (5760 x 1080 at 60+ Hz would be nice). If you use 120Hz monitors then you're going to want more graphics horsepower for sure.
