Hey guys, I just picked up 2 Sapphire HD6970s. I am changing over from the nVidia hardware (specifically the GTX275s). I have a few questions to clear up so that hopefully things will go smoothly.

-I want to benchmark my current setup and then my new setup. Are there a few programs that I could download that would be non- biased and compatible with both? (DX10 & 11, etc)

I also want to test my PSU with the cards maxed out. What program should I use?

-I am currently using MSI afterburner to monitor my temp and adjust my fan profile. Is this still a good product?

-What's the best method of changing over the drivers? My understanding is this: go to safe mode, uninstall drivers via control panel. Turn off computer, switch hardware. Reinstall new drivers on boot.

I'd appreciate you help! Thx!

Whoah, that's a nice upgrade, Battlefield 3, huh?

Regarding your questions;

1. I don't know, I don't run benchmarks.

2. Just play games.

3. MSI Afterburner is the best in my opinion, specially because of the fan profile and on-screen display.

4. I just uninstall them (I don't go into Safe Mode), restart, and install the new ones.

MSI AB shows a max temp of ~85 which is fine by me, but what are those 2 other tempertures that GPU-Z shows that are 96, that's what concerns me?
Yeah, I'm not sure about those other temps. Someone more knowledgeable than I will have to answer that. When I saw them I thought they may be virtual cores or something. Or maybe the GPU actually has more cores. I would have to go Googling and read up more on it to know for sure.

YES! Battlefield 3!

I don't use the OSD because I have a logitech G15, so I use the LCD. I like afterburner for that reason too. I need to look up whether or not it's able to show my CPU core usage and temps.

Ok, i'll check them out! Thx!

One question I forgot to ask: What driver should I download and use first? I'll be playing BF3 (when it comes out I am sure there will be a new driver) and other FPS/driving game titles.

Thx again. I look forward to be in the Club

I have a G15 as well, what I usually do is keep the GPU information in the OSD, and the CPU information in the G15 LCD through Core Temp.

Sadly, you can't have both programs on the screen at once.

Sadly, you can't have both programs on the screen at once.
Get Everest or it's updated version, AIDA. It lets you put all sorts of info on the G15 screen, and scroll between 4 different screens of info. This is all I use for my G15, and I can see CPU & GPU temps and usage all at once
