6950 is officially the best bang for the buck !
My Sapphire HD6950 will be delivered tomorrow, planning on unboxing, installing and unlocking it to a 6970 and rocking some games tomorrow haha.

I'm so pumped, i've been gimping along with a 5770 since i built my sig rig and with the new card i'll be able to actually run some of these newer games i've got at high settings instead of mediums (not that it was bad but i'm just glad to not be restricted soon).

You know what, am going to be honest. the 6970 is bitterly dissapointing for me. My 5870 felt smoother. I don't have much for an fps increase from the 5870 as well. 4 fps at most. I don't know wether to wait for january drivers or get a gtx 570.

That happens in a lot of games. Checkpoint = saving game = HD activity.

I get the stutter even if it's not a checkpoint. That's my point here.

Flashed my sapphire card to an asus bios. Time to play with the voltages.
EDIT: This smart doctor software is just plain hassle, rolling back to my original BIOS and waiting for afterburner to implement voltage control for 69xx.

So which is it, then?

I'll thumb through the thread when I get home to see if I missed adding anyone, and do some other thread maintenance.

edit: L36, SmartDoctor blows. Real awful, hated it with my Asus 5850.

I took my card apart and applied MX3 TIM today. It still idles at 45°c at 40% fan in a 19°c ambient temp.... Are 500/1375 the normal idle clocks? Or does anyone have an idea why it is so hot? It is on a tech bench in open air so it's not like air flow is an issue.

No those are not 2D clock. Temps are correct for those clocks. Not sure why it will not go to 2D for you but HD 58XX had this problem after 10.4 drivers.

Only the second card in my CF configuration idled at 400/900, and with ULPS off, they would both idle at 157/300. That goes for 10.10c, d and e.
