Should be able to monitor your temps with afterburner.

Hello,
I have a question:
Does the I5 750 @3.6ghz creates a bottleneck for the 6970?
And if it doesn't, if I get a second 6970 for xfire will there be a bottleneck then?

So I have some questions with my 6950. I have a reference 6950. I know reference cards are noisy and very hot, but didn't expect to be 87C when stressed on stock speed. Turning the fan to 55% drops it down to 70C. Which is good improvement, but still too hot and noisy for my taste. I am thinking about reseating my GPU, my question is that,

* Do you think reapplying TIM will improve the temperature?
* Can I reuse thermal pads while I reapply TIM?
* Is it possible to open up the shroud to clean the heatsink inside? The video I saw takes the entire shroud off the card, that's it.

Eesh, ATI/AMD has had this problem since the 4850 and 4870! Good lord. Thank god I got a dual fan non-reference from XFX.

Definitely swapping to MX-2 or something like that will help, as will replacing the TIM pads for the memory.

Replacing TIM might help, but not much if the original application was ok to begin with. If you remove the cooler very slowy, you will do minimal damage to the pads. The pads are very thin and delicate and the mem pads iirc are stretchy. I've taken apart over 12 cards (think I've lost count actually) in my time and have reused pads every time.

If I have to use new pads, where can I buy it from?

Frozencpu, or PPC... the watercooling shops. The thicknesses are very thin, and you are better off concentrating on NOT destroying the pads vs wasting days trying to find them/ordering replacements.
