I have a pair of Diamond 6950 reference cards that I flashed with the 6970 BIOS over a year ago that have been working great (925/1425 at default voltage) until this week. They were installed on an MSI 890FXA GD70 with an AMD 1100t. I picked up an MSI Z77 Mpower and i5 3570k last week and now the secondary BIOS positions dont seem to work. It works fine when the default BIOS is selected on the switch but I get a black screen when the 6970 BIOS is selected. I've tried to boot with both cards individually and in Crossfire with the same results. Any ideas on where to begin? I've reflashed them but no luck. I flashed the default BIOS to the secondary position and they work fine but not with the 6970 BIOS. I havent connected the JPWR3 6 pin connector that resides next to the 24pin connector on the motherboard but didnt think that would cause any issues. Any other ideas?

That happened to me after installing Afterburner (Trixx did it too). Best I can surmise, the flicker happens when you overclock beyond the settings available in Catalyst Control Center. There is a registry fix you can make that will increase the limits in CCC and thus, allows Afterburner to work flicker free.

May not be of help here but:

1. As you have stated verify all 12v power connections are available
2. Try modding the 6950 bios with RBE editor to match the 6970 bios vs using a 6970 bios
3. Driver issue?? should not be an issue unless you did not do a fresh windows install with the board change over

Here is just a quick mod i created stock Diamond 6950 bios with 6970 shader unlock only (no clock or voltage changes)

That's simply a clock issue with powerplay. Refer to my sig thread, 2nd post.
