Could I get a picture of it?...and we are talking about just the cooler right

at this point i'm inclined to sell the aftermarket cooler first. my current 6970 is stock and if i were to keep the reference i'd match better with it...

the aftermarket cooler will need head sinks but i don't think i have all. it might be missing 2 or 3 of them out of 8or 9... it's been a while.

edit: better yet i'd just rather sell all than mess with it. i'd rather sell with stock cooler and aftermarket as a free item. because i've been throwing the project to the side for over a year til i lost the heat sinks...

yes mine is just like that

Ok here goes. I suck at pictures but I'll do my best. This is my cover with the back plate.
There are these tabs I circled on each sides. (Click to show)

I used a flathead screwdriver to push each tab in. (Click to show)

This created a gap to pry it open more. (Click to show)
There's a hidden tab here. (Click to show)

Like so. (Click to show)

I hope this shows how easy it is to remove just the cover?

Is the card fully functional?... how much for the lot?

i think i can do $170 shipped. at this point i can only assume it works since i've never tried it. i'll have to put the stock fan on the card and use it over the weekend and give you the word on monday. i wouldn't sell it if it doesn't work 100%.

i got it with the aftermarket fan but the heatsinks were put on so sloppily that i had to redo what was done. the seller was a good guy though he bought me the gpu glue thermopaste and was nice to me. i tried putting the heatsinks on but some stuck and others didn't. especially the heat sinks that sat on the little thingies. so i just gave up on putting the aftermarket fan and planned to put back the stock. i was gonna put the aftermarket fans just for looks since i don't overclock. butmy job didnt stand the test of time.

the reason i got them was cause the seller had 2 of these crossfire and sold them but the buyer forgot to flip the switch back and it didn't work. so he sent it back to the seller as a dead gpu. all the seller did was flip the switch and it worked. a year ago i got them for $270 as a second chance buyer...

Mine obeys only the min and max fan settings.
Here is a screenshot of the bios settings im using now.....anyone know what i might be doing wrong?

Edit: goign to try trixx while i wait to hear from anyone that knows about the above
Would prefer using bios to do this, ive not enjoyed software fan controllers so much.

Use afterburner. Trixx works too, but Afterburner works on multiple cards. I have been using it on a Sapphire 6950 and 6970 for over a year and it's been working fine. You can edit the speed/temp ramp and the cards respond accordingly.

Trixx won't work on multiple cards (at least it didn't the last two times I tried it). If they haven't upgraded it for multiple cards, you're better off using Afterburner now so you won't have to get used to it after you add a second card.

I ended up getting a brand new reference card on eBay for 159.99...thanks for the offer though....

Does anyone else here have experience installing a axp 2 on a 6970?....how did you do the vrms....
