Far Cry 2? Really?

edit: I want to see a screenshot of that 1000/1500 running Furmark/Kombustor for longer than 20 seconds.

FC2 is not a bad indicator of stability.
GTA 4 is probably one of the most sensitive games to GPU OC ever.
GTA ran well for me at 980 with 1.3V with 1500 memory.
Time to test 1K core, 1010 proved to be unstable.

Actully, 3D Mark Vantage/11, Metro 2033 and Crysis are better tests. I could run OCCT for a while on my previous 6950 but it would crash in vantage/crysis. Max out Crysis and Metro and run those for a while instead. Far Cry 2 isn't all too good and it's too much of an nvidia friendly title (they get almost twice the fps in some cases. Well at least in the benchmark tool).

FarCry2 is quite possibly the worst way to judge the effectiveness of an OC on an ATI gpu, as evidenced many times before.

For me crysis would run at 930 without any voltage, while GTA 4 would cause driver crashes unless on 920. GTA is very sensitive to any GPU OC, in my case.

Make sure you're maxing out Crysis with x8 AA and maxing out the image quality and in DX 10 mode. I find Metro to be a bit more stressful, and GTA IV just likes to hog vram. 3D Mark Vantage/2011 like i said are pretty good stress tests too. I find that furmark/occt etc are kind of useless on these new cards.

Yeah kombustor/furmark run 950 without any voltage additions fine, i never use em as stability indicators.

Il try the tip with crysis, ive only ran it with 4x AA and everything else maxed.
Cant try futuremark 11 since it crashes on physics tests, guess will never know my system score...
Although, all graphics tests finish fine at 990, 1K core though crashes the driver. (1.3Vcore.)

Do vantage on high then. If you've got Metro just max it out (you should be able to max it out easily with >30fps) and just play about 10 minutes. If i have an unstable OC (my previous card) it would crash within the first 3-4 minutes, GTA IV i never play much so i dunno. An overclock may pass one or another of these but just run a few of them to be safe

I've gotten 1000/1580 stable at 1.28v so far, but the extra fan speed required to hold 20 extra MHz of core clock just aint worth it. 950/1500 daily is fine for just about any game at 1080p. Sort of disappointed, but I'm banking on 11.1 to bring us all some goodness. Will update later if I can get any higher, but I'm off to actually play something for a while.

Good luck, guys!

Could you please run OCCT GPU with shader complexity 8 (full screen) for 5 to 10 minutes (manually timed, set it to infinite) at 980 MHz core?

I can't get anything over 954 MHz stable not matter the voltage.
