Ya know I was wondering the same thing after a reading matrices post about AB not applying voltage settings. At first I believe he was right because I up my voltage to 1.2v and GPU-Z still shows 1.0v. I went to RivaTuner hoping it'll show the voltage on the GPU but it didn't. Then I remember there was this window gadget that show voltage, clock, memory and gpu usage. I looked at it and it shows 1.1v. Strange enough I thought that was my stock voltage. To be sure I selected default in CCC and reset AB settings. Restart the PC and the GPU Observer gadget is showing 1.0v as default instead of 1.1v. This lead me to believe AB is working but GPU-Z on the other hand is telling me otherwise.

To unlock voltage control on 6950 you must got to C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MSI Afterburner\\Profiles or just program files for 32 bit of course.
You must alter the profile VEN_1002&DEV_6719&SUBSYS_31301682&REV_00&BUS_1&DEV _0&FN_0.cfg
by adding
[Settings]
VDDC_VT1556_Defaults = 9A 51 9B 80

to the end.
All this has been writeen here and elsewhere before but I am posting it again because still people have problems,
Also keep away from CCC and power control settings when using AB it caused me nothing but bluescreens.

GPUZ I dont think can be trusted to report proper findings on flashed 6950 yet.
The only way to tell if voltage has been increased for sure is by monitoring temps or of course achieving higher OC.
Its worth it for high clocks but realistically running those kind of clocks and high fanspeeds 24/7 is not for me.

5800-6200 is the score for 6970 i think. seems ok. have you got 10.12a? if not, get them right now. you will see a fps increase in every 3d application.

where has this been listed before? i've read the majority of this thread a few times and that's the first i've seen of it.

also, do you have to do this to the AB6 beta?

when you say stay away from CCC do you mean keep the power control settings at 0% or not have it installed at all?

i currently have CCC @ 20% power control, 925/1450 clocks, w/ AB handling my fan profile and hud. (AB 5)

i'm planning on updating to the AB 6 beta for voltage control to see how high i can take it stable.

I read it on Guru3d amongst other places.
Yes you must do it with AB6 beta.
I mean only not to change power control in CCC.
If you use the above method to have voltage control on flashed 6950 and still have power control at anything other than 0% you will get BSOD at best.

Will this work with a shader-unlocked (but not 6970 BIOS) card? Also, this is probably a stupid question, but can running the fan at 100% damage the card? I tried in in afterburner just to see what it would sound like and it scared the hell out of me; I thought my PC was going to take off through the roof.

Honestly I dont know about shader only,I just used XFX 6970 BIOS.
Haha the fan is fine.
Heat is the killer, not noisy fans.

Yes it can! I wrote my experience and a little tutorial on how to get it working.
