I recommend you get an Asus 6950 BIOS, mod it to unlock shaders and flash it back to 6950 and then use Asus SmartDoctor to unlock higher clocks on Overdrive. Much safer.

http://www.overclock.net/ati/923129-hd-6950-810-1250-mhz-shader.html

Follow that guide.

hmmm, I shall take a look at that later. So it ups the default settings and allows for a better OC?
Any example of the gains?

Unlocks the shaders and you can overclock to 6970 clocks and farther and keep 6950 RAM timings and such, some peoples cards have died, so its just to be safe, unless you dont care.

Thats one reason I didnt look into it before. As far as I know people who only unlock the shaders are ok, its the people that do more that are screwed.

I might have damaged my card since i was on 6970 BIOS, I went back to 6950 with unlocked shaders and today when I was playing Divinity II and Bad Company 2 the drivers crashed, it might have been my overclock though, I was 900 Core 1375 Memory, I have lowered it to 880 Core and 1350 Memory and I'll see how it goes.

I have quite literally no idea. I can do 940 on stock 6970 volts (1.175v), and i can do 1Ghz with 1.3v. I never checked what i need for 1020, I just maxed it out (1.4v) and keep raising core clocks 10Mhz and stress testing in a few of the games. I've not gone beyond 1020 yet. As for memory, i can do 1425 with a 6950 bios but i can do 1475 with a 6970 bios because it gives 1.6v to the memory over 1.5v on the 6950 bios, but then i dont have voltage control (using afterburner) so i have to use a modded 6950 bios. Waiting for Trixx to support voltage tweaking on these cards so i can use the other bios for 50 extra mhz on the card biggrin.gif
