I applaud Intel for trying but I'm more interested in them making a APU (CPU/GPU) that can run 4 cores at no less than 2.4GHz and playback HD movies perfectly while having a power draw of 10-15watts. If they can do that and sell it for less than 100USD then they will have a winner. Because at that point you will have not only the mainstream "know nothing" consumer, but also people like me who want that kind of performance in a netbook for a reasonable price. I like my Atom but it's really not that great beyond school work and social things.

tl;dr from my perspective: I want intel/amd to use some kind of magic to shrink power consumption in their chips by more than 50%..... and I want it inexpensively. That'd be great.
Sorry for being kind of rude about it, but I think what you are suggesting they do is a little bit outside the realm of possibility for a number of years.
