Underwhelmed with WoW FPS on 580

Note: I play completely maxed out.

Running my 580 at stock settings, got the Directx11 fix enabled in the config file. Figured I'd be seeing 60 FPS all around at least. Boot up WoW, annnnd woohoo 20-30 FPS in Org!

Is this the normal frames people are seeing cause I expected better O.o
post #2 of 10
Standing in Org? Yeah, I'd say that's pretty normal. Orgrimmar is like Dalaran now, WAY too many people to be getting good frame rates.

I heard that WoW uses almost no GPU power. Then the GPU thinks its idling and goes to 2d clocks.

This was when people with gtx480's were having problems.

Might have to run crysis in the background for the 580 to wake up.

Agreed, it's just laggy, nothing to do with your system; same thing happens to me.

I figured that as much, but when I played Wrath on a 8800 GTX I would be getting the same FPS maxed out in Dalaran :/

Still was hoping to be a bit higher. If it's common I guess I can't be complaining lol.

Being that Orgrimmar is the new capital city for Cata, everyone gets crappy framerates. Not to mention they are still on a very outdated engine. There are a few things that you could disable to improve performance while in Org. Reducing sunshafts and shadowing will help yield some better frame rates.

Lol I'll run an instance of Mass Effect 2 in the BG and see what happens. Reformatted my SSD so I don't have Crysis in

LMAO I kid you not while running ME2 in the BG my FPS was bumped up to high 30's/mid 40's... LOL

EDIT: ran into the keep away from most people and my FPS went up to 120-150. Guess it's just all the people
