Intel i5 750 @ 5 Ghz

Thread Starter
Hey dear overclockers,

this is my first post on this forum, and Im in despair.
I have been trying to get my i5 750 to run at 5 Ghz for 1 and 1 only CPU-z validation.

I am running on a Maximus III Formula, with Corsair Dominator GT's. Which I run underclocked for this.
I'm loving this winter weather with only 8 degrees celcius on the CPU even though Im running at 1,65 V.

I've tried nearly everything in my BIOS but I can't get it stable enough to validate....

The furtest I've been able to come is 4,944 with Bclk 206 and MP 24 (2 cores, 2 threads)

So I'm really hoping someone here can give a couple of magic hints to push me that little bit further.

I have a feeling I need to tingle with the CPU and IOH clock amplitude and Clock Skew of these two, but I cant find the correct values. poke.gif
The board will go 'till Bclk 227, so this is ruled out.
I have the mem running @ 1560 Mhz, while it is to go until 2000 so also ruled out.

Thank you very much.

If you would like any more info, please ask and I'll provide.

Damn man I have never seen an I5 clocked that high your going to blow something up lol.

But it does show us just how tough the i5 and Asus Mbs are tho lol.

+1 reps for you.

Why wouldn't it validate? Have you tried saving the file? 1.15V IOH could help. Increasing the PCIE sometimes helps with stability too.

are you sure its at 5ghz? Thats a lot of that CPU.

It wouldn't validate due to instability. when @ 5 ghz the screen just freezes, and I took a picture with my cell for fun.
I've tried PCI-e from 100 to 105, and I allways save a file cause I run Windows in diagnostic mode (no internet)

I will continue my google search for whatever might help tongue.gif

Edit: adding some pics of my BIOS

I boot at Bclk 193, and then work my way up via ROG connect.

reducing the CPU PLL to 1.6v/1.7 actually helps believe it or not (for very high overclocks)
try reducing the QPI and set 1.45v on the IMC/VTT
