HD6870CF for eyefinity (5760x1200)

Hi OCN. I'd like to ask guys esp with eyefinity setups how my 6870CF will perform in eyefinity. I was wondering if 1GB of VRAM can handle this kind of resolution. I know that with these high resolutions high memory is better. will I experience a severe bottleneck with only 1GB of video memory? I'm a little worried about my memory size and I'm not to keen on upgrading to 69** video cards.

any inputs would be grealty appreciated. TIA OCN God Bless

yes it will work, will it work better w/ 2gb of VRAM, yes of course

will you notice a little less eye candy w/ AA turned down? @ 5750x1200...probably not, it looks like CF scaling is getting better w/ the 6xxx series, so I'm sure adding a 2nd 6870 isn't going to hurt the least bit w/ that eyefinity resolution

ie. I ran a single 5850 w/ my 3600x1600 resolution, w/ everything turned up I did have some major slow downs in SC2, but of course pending on what games you play.

if you are really concerned, hold onto the 6870 and sell it when the supposed 69xx duel gpu comes out...problem solved =D

I already have two 6870's btw. so I can play at those resolution fine but without AA?

Well I think the best thing to do would be to give it a shot and see what happens. If it turns out you really like eyefinity and the 6870s dont cut it you can just sell them. Im sure you could easily make up the difference for a 6950/6970 if you sold them.

this is a no-turning-back move for me. if I buy 2 monitors I'd be literally broke and won't be able to spend a single cent on my rig anymore. I'd like to know how those guys with 5850's, 5870's that did eyefinity. how was their experience and does having only 1GB of ram affected the performance?

I wouldn't get the monitors if thats the situation it'll put you in. Even if you do like them, don't go for broke just to get something nice. I realize its your money and you can do what you please with it, but I'd save up a little more cash. I always like having spare cash on the off chance theres a good shell shocker or something of that sort.
To answer you're question, the 6870's should perform decently as they are more powerful in CF than a 5970 most of the time. You'll have to turn down detail here and there, but it should be an overall great experience. Also having multiple monitors is awesome and works wonders for productivity. Thats my 2 cents anyways.

what I meant was this was all the money I could spend for myself. the wife will not let me spend a single cent more after the upgrade. heads will roll if I did

hopefully 1GB Vram will be enough. I'm planning on buying the two monitors this week. I'm just waiting for a post telling me I'm making the biggest mistake of my life
