MB for i7 950

Thread Starter
I am looking to make a system upgrade later today and I am just looking at the mobo now, I was going to go for the sabertooth but I figure for a few extra quid I might be better of going for something like the Asus Rampage III, what's the difference between the Gene and the Extreme? Am I likely to ever use the 4 pci-e slots? I can see myself maybe using 2, but 4?! I can pick the board from any of the following : http://www.scan.co.uk/Shop/Computer-...mfield-Core-i7

What memory would suit those boards to get the most of them?

Gene IS mini Atx.

Rampage Extreme III is the highest End board Asus Offers with all the bells and whistles.

If you have a full tower and it fits your budget the REIII will do you well.

THe REIII is an Enthusiast board. If you want to over clock like crazy... It is a good board for you.

If your new to building a pc.. and cant take advantage of it's features.. You may want to step down to the Rampage III Formula.

What about the stock cooling on those boards, looking at some of the other boards they seem a bit more beefed up in that area.

It is Beefed up Because it is a very Powerful Mother board built for Enthusiast's
And overclocking to accept the strain of high voltages.

THE REIII comes with an Extra Heat sink For the NB with a fan on it that is easy to install.

If you could tell me what your looking to do with your build i could direct you to the right motherboard for your needs .

A High End gaming rig would be as follows...

CPU i7 950

MB Asus Rampage III extreme

Ram Corsair Dom GT

GPU Nvidia Gtx 570 x2 http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1280m...s-dl-dvi-mhdmi

Power Supply AX1200 http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1200w...-12v-120mm-fan

Boot HDD http://www.scan.co.uk/products/80gb-...ite-70mb-s-oem

Storage HD http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1tb-w...4mb-cache-8-ms

CDrom/dvd/rw http://www.scan.co.uk/products/liteo...a-black-retail

Other then that i need to know what kind of cooling you want and if you need a case?
