I don't speak Computerese well enough to understand any of the posts in this thread, but I'm pretty sure something Badass is going on.

1.76V!!!! Holy mother of electron migration!... I know this is some serious benching/suicide runs, but out of curiosity how many runs like that can you do before you start to see degradation on that chip?

To counter the serious voltage, you subcool the chip making more resilient to electromigration. The CPU-Z runs were with little to no load and the temperatures were between -30C and -40C. There won't really be any degradation unless I give around 1.9V and run something long and extremely stressful like WPrime 1024M.

Point of story, if I sold this today, it would live it's entire life until it was outdated before it died.

Really? Damn. I had always heard that with even moderately high volts/current the newer chips, especially ~45nm and lower, were still susceptible to electromigration effects - even in subzero temps - something to do with the decreasing size of the structures in the silicon...

So you've never seen any degradation first-hand, in the past couple generations of processors at those voltages?

I haven't seen any degradation at all across any of my chips that I've used subzero (1 W3520, 1 920, 3 950's, and this 970). I've only heard of a few 980X's degrading and that was from some extreme abuse.

Awesome results man!

Just noticed you got a new CPU to torture

How is the uncore on these, same as 980X where you can use 1.5x ram?

Can someone spare some towels? I have to clean the drool off my keyboard....

This is epic thread. Epic clockspeeds. One question, can you do it with HT on, too?
