Max safe temp for an i7 930 on load?

Thread Starter
Gaming or heavy app load is about 55-61. Prime95 is 65, LinX is 70.

So the absolute highest temps I see are on linx and basically 70 on all cores, is this safe? At what temp do I start worrying?

Currently at 4.1GHz on air, 1.33v.

Generally 85c and below is where you want for 24/7 load, so anything below that is perfect.
The absolute max is 100c which will throttle down so benchmarks I wouldn't go pass 95c.

With your 70c load you have room to OC some more if you want and be perfectly safe. thumb.gif

when stress testing 80*C would be considered safe as no program/game youll run other than a stress test will get the cores that high. for general use the max safe temp specified by intel is 74*C

Awesome, thanks a ton guys. +rep

So I don't need to make a new topic, the max save voltage for an i7 is 1.4v for 24/7 use right?

Some say 1.35 is max to be on the safer side. But I have yet to hear someone frying their chip doing sub 1.4 vcore.

No program? You are wrong. rolleyes.gif
F@H, BOINC, Blender, and I am sure a few more will use 100% that can get you that high in temps.

Intel states many things and 74c is nothing really, ask all the folders who have ran there CPUs hotter than that for years and still work. wink.gif

I7 45nm max voltage is 1.45v.

And 85'C max temp under LinX load.
