Recovering a Vista install from Win 7

Thread Starter
I (well my brother) has an old HP laptop that had a Vista install on there... he has a new laptop now so I started using it once in a while, I installed Windows 7 on there though, but he wants Vista back (don't ask why). So I tried to restore it through HP's recovery software, (I kept the recovery partition) but it says it can't detect the backup?

Any ideas or is it useless?

If I were you I would just inform your brother that the old backup can't be restored. Then tell him that you can make windows 7 look just like vista for him on a fresh install.

there is a guide showing you how to do it. Have fun with that.

(I won't let people who come to me for computer help use vista, I refuse to reinstall vista onto a computer.)

I would have imagined it'd be possible? the recovery partition is actually still there... it's about 8GB large I think.
