Ignore it.
So you've bought the V10....any possibility you could return it?

ever consider getting a H70 or even a H50?

the stock 980 heatsink is nice but not enough.

only serious people get the 980 chip dont know why u did.

im here for help ffs..

btw it's stable now i just needed to bump the qpi/vtt a tiny bit, i guess the people on other overclocking forums have more patience and are a bit more friendly (some of you are nice/patient).

1) the ram is fine at 1600 with bckl, cooler is on the way (will do job fine)

2) no sht but thats the daily range here roughly

3) load temps are fine now

4) your right on this one, seems fine now though
yea, qpi is the key. qpi/vtt is just as important as vcore. qpi/vtt is the voltage for the memory controller and the chipset(uncore). generally speaking the more video cards/memory you have, the more qpi/vtt voltage you need.

now that you have things stable, you want to fine tune your overclock. which basically just means finding the lowest possible stable voltages for your frequency. if you havent already download a copy of prime95 for stress testing. run blend for 12-16hours on your current overclock (if temperatures allow) then go to test/end. and if it says 0 errors 0 warnings on all threads then you are stable. time to start lowering vcore 1 notch at a time, and running prime 95 blend for 12 hours in between testing for stability.

also sometimes prime95 can cause blue screen, if this happens it usually means you need more vtt voltage. if 1 of the worker threads throws an error and stops working, its usually more vcore thats needed.

key thing to remember is to not overclock your ram until you get your cpu stable. this way you can eliminate it as the cause of any instabilities. so try to keep your ram at its stock frequency/timings or lower.

edit: also about the v10, yes its not the best cooler and yes its over priced. but youve already ordered it and im sure it will get the job done. good thing to remember whenever your about to make a purchase dont hesitate to get on ocn and ask others for opinions on the product. i do this all the time. this way if someone had a bad experience with a particular product they can share it.

if it were me, id try to return the v10, and buy a noctua nh d-14 (make sure your case can fit it first). but if you cant return the v10, or simply dont want to im sure the v10 will be more than enough too keep your 980x nice and cool.

Remember that people put their effort and spare time into answering your questions, afaik no one gets paid to help you. And when you counter with rude comments you are just feeding the trolls.

As many others have said, you might want to consider getting some information about what you are buying before you actually buy it, read some reviews on different coolers and read some tutorials on how to get the best push/pull fan configuration in your computer case.

And please fill out the information about your system, you don't have to fill it all out, but it helps new posters to catch up.

Rock on.

^ yes I agree. That is a very good overview to read. I have read that myself. It will help you understand some important things about the 980x. The sample overclocks I really wouldn't follow, but it's worth reading for sure.
