Another Recommend a Noob Headphones Thread $120 Tops!

Thread Starter
Well here's another thread asking for recommendations. I'd ask the question in one of the many threads asking the same thing but last time I did that people caught feelings and needed hugs,

I'm thinking I need headphones with ambient noise cancellation being that I use the comp in the same room where my kid is watching Dora & Backyardigans. They'll mostly be for gaming as when I wanna listen to music I send it through to my receiver via toslink. I don't need ones with mics as my monitor has one built in which I could use from time to time. I'm usually playing single player games anyway.

Thanks...

It seems you need closed cans for noise isolation, though for gaming, open cans are better depending on what type of games.I can only recommend the ones I'm using right now(Audio Technica M50), as I dont have any experience with other headphones. They are aimed more towards music than gaming but they perform well for both and have good bass. The thing is that if you play mostly fps games, open cans offer better better sound-stage which means you will have better positional awareness when playing. If noise isolation is a must, then you will have to sacrifice better sound stage for the isolation and better bass.

With open cans you can hear background noise correct? Like a TV and a 3 year old screaming for help? If so then I definitely need closed ones. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, you don't want to have to listen to your child naming clothing articles in Spanish or screaming that she tripped and broke her leg while running around unsupervised.

Definitely want a solid set of closed cans.

I thought pi was exactly 3?

And obviously no one is helping. The are the best bet for closed-back sub-$150 range. *clearsthroat*
