With a 1090T using 1.5V using 175 watts, 2 5870s both maxed at 188 watts each (For the hell of estimating, 376 watts), and all my other stuff using 100 watts I would say it;s safe to assume I'm using at least 600 watts.

no, with that estimate, you are safe to assume you are using 476 watts. Plus rarely does your computer use absolute 100% of its max possible power usage. 750watts is complete overkill for dual 5870's.

a 750watt can run dual 580s if you want to. So i wouldn't really be worried about power usage, why don't you get the second card and see how loud the PSU is before you go out and buy a new one just for the hell of thinking it is going to be loud.

here you go, dual 5870's use about 600watts including the system.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...0,2422-20.html
and you have to remember that it is using 560 watts at the wall, meaning that it is using even less inside the computer. so at 80% it would be about 450 watts inside the computer.

On my box it says that 456 will be around 26DB, but at 600w it will be a loud 36DB...

OMG you aren't going to use 600watts inside your computer with dual 5870s, I PROMISE.

Go look at my link. They use 561 watts at the wall, meaning they use less inside the computer. I gave you the math, if you want to go waste money on an unneeded PSU then go ahead.

Newegg has great deals on these two PSU's; any of them will work great and I can personally vouch for the Antec as it is dead-silent.

he already has a TX650 in his computer. which is perfectly fine for runnign dual 5870s. Will be right at the sound level he wants.

Test bench? My processor alone takes 175w...

You just dont want to listen do you, look at the artical, they are using a more powerful system then your own and are only using 560 watts AT THE WALL. THEY ARE NOT USING THAT MUCH POWER INSIDE THE COMPUTER.

Get your second card, and if your PSU is too loud at that point, then get a new PSU, but until then it is pointless. Another thing, PSU's are more efficient at higher usage, they have a curve. Most powersupplies aren't efficient when being underused, aka a 750watt psu with dual 5870s. A psu is efficient around 80% usage. You are going to waste your money if you buy a new power supply.

Alright! I'll keep this PSU I guess. Thanks, REP+
