Both are 350$, it's for a friend. I don't believe he games at all, but of course the option to is nice.(HD 4250).

Asus... hands down!
HP come with SO MUCH CRUDWARE it is unbe-frikkin-leivable!

Of course, you could always flatten the HDD on purchase

Plus, I quite like Asus lappys

I do hope thats not your selling point. HP has all the drivers on the website, just install the basic ones, and your set, it will run blazing fast. ASUS does the same thing too.

better GPU.
and getting the bloatware off isnt very hard. takes 20 mins.

Don't know about the heat and power consumption of the AMD's these days first hand. But, the HP sure sounds better.

Thanks for your input everyone! In for the HP. I like Asus products more but the combo of the dual core @2.2ghz and the fairly powerful IGP sold my friend on it.
