Q6600 and an ECS 650i Sli - Page 2

Can you loosen your timing to 6-6-6-18-2T first and then try to push your fsb. Remember when pushing your fsb max fsb jumps should be 20 Mhz.

I'm assuming at 3Ghz you are at 1350 Mhz? Start there with the relaxed timings first and set the vcore (CPU volts) to 1.38 volts and then push it to 1370 Mhz and test. Continue doing the same procedure of increasing by 20 Mhz until you can no longer boot to Windows. When that happens it means you need to increase your CPU volts some more. Once you hit 3.2 (able to boot into windows) you need to start testing with prime95 for stability.

Also can you read up on your manual regarding the "Memory-FSB:Expert" setting try to see if it will allow you to manually set your mem-fsb ratios. If it doesnt read up on what each settings offer, personally I really wish you had a pair of 800 Mhz ram to really help you OC easier. Maybe setting it to auto can also help you OC better, I did that with my old 650sli (though I did use 800 ddr2 rams) and was able to OC easily.

Well if his VID is high he may need to bump up his vcore to the 1.4~1.42 range just to get to 3.2 Ghz.

Tough getting a high vid q6600 plus the old 650sli board...

If you were stable at 3.0 with ram at 667 - 4-4-4-12 1T I would use that..

The extra 37MHz vs the looser ram timings may leave you with worse performance...

Do some bench tests to see what the difference is...

650i is a horrible OCer for quads. Give up before you throw your computer out the window.

I had the exact same motherboard as you OP.
Dont waste the time, just save for a better board and leave it at 3.0

nForce 6 series is very bad with quads, even though I'm using the 680i, it was PIA to get my Q6600 G0 to where I am.

p.s. Many q6600 have a so called "FSB hole", mine has one. I wasn't able to boot with anything between 2.8 - 3.2ghz, once past that point I had no problems. Also use higher multiplier, 650i and 680i doesn't like going past FSB of 400mhz. (QDR 1600)
