what i would like to see

Thread Starter
i'm building my first computer and extremely stoked about it. but as you may have been when making your first rig, i have lots of questions, and i know there are many of you on here who could help me out!

I've decided i'm going with AMD X6 and an Asus Crosshair 4 formula( havent gotten them but i will)

I already have my Case, Power supply, and Cpu cooler (corsair A70)

what i would like to see eventually after having my pc completes is to have multiple monitors and a graphics card w/ sli.

Can anybody recommend a good low profile DDR3 that will fit w/ the A70, and the best graphics card for below 250?

thanks guys!

^ And what brand is that PSU?

FYI, you will need to run the SLI hack if you want to be able to run sli on a amd motherboard that doesnt have the nvidia chipset, which is your case. The sli hack is not as effective as the real sli though...If your going amd and dual gpu, then you should choose ati, which i dont reccoment for being an ati owner myself... The best option in my book would be to buy a higher end card that will not need to be sli'ed. So my suggestion is to get a gtx 580 for pretty much the same price as 2x gtx 470 and it will perform pretty much the same. Also, you'll need a psu that's at least 750w to run any of these setups, 80+ certified is better...

thanks!

i do have a 750 w w/ 80+ certified, but i was un aware about the mobo not being sli capable ( being new and all hah). i was looking to spend about 400 to 450 on mobo/cpu, do you have any recommendations that would not require to run a sli hack?

last question i think!

this:

or:

exact same price but what one is better, and would the first one work better with AMD X6 and the Mobo i wanted?

gtx 470>6870
But if you're going to run dual gpu, you're better off with the ati cards since they won't require the sli hack (i guess you're not confortable with that), even though crossfire scaling isnt as good as sli scaling...Since the gtx 470 are better choices than 6870s, i would get an i5 750 w/ asus sabertooth (or something else) and get 2x gtx 470, that will outperform a phenom x6 w/ 2x 6870... by alot...
