which smartphones are recommended by OCN this year?

would it be better for me to stick to my old crapphy 2n'd hand passed on down phone from my mum so I can save up some $ and grab something better coming out next year?

thoughts and opinions please!

I know it was released last year but the HD2 is still a great phone and getting better all the time with the help of the XDA developers

The Google Nexus S seems to be very good, but I think the Apple Iphone 4 still tops all the competition.

iOS is obviously the iPhone.
Android, I'd probably get the Nexus S or the Desire Z/HD
WP7, not sure, I know the US and the Non-US markets differ greatly here.
