There's no such thing as "dead end." If the computer works and does what you want it to do, then it will be fine.
Yes, I know And in terms of getting LGA 1156 or LGA 1155 the performance difference will be minimal.

What's bugging me is that people say that LGA 1156 is a deadend socket, when it's pretty clear that LGA 1155 is already a dead end as well, even before releasing.

Intel is going to do the exact same thing they did with LGA 1156 and LGA 1356.

That's the crazy thing about computers (as well as cars). As soon as you buy it, you lose a lot of the value. LOL

but hey, it's your money Lol

Its not just the CPU though. Lynnfield's PCIe controller is 1.1 (well, its 2.0 with 1.1 bandwidth). Sandy Bridge has double the bandwidth, which means you're set for things like USB 3.0 and SATA6.
What is that again? Is that refering to the GPU bandwidth? PCI-E 1.1 vs 2.0? Or is it something else?

Cause I don't care about USB 3.0 or SATA6.

ASUS P7P55 WS Supercomputer.
I have it and it's amazing. Pretty cheap on Amazon too. I bought it for around the same price around 10 months ago - open box.

I think a 4ghz i5 760 will easily pass a stock SB chip?

From the previews, at least.

Woooooow! This thread is becoming a silly nightmare.

Take some time and read these reviews and decide what 1156 mobo you want.

MSI P55 GD65 reviews:
overclockersclub
bit-tech
anandtech
bjorn3d
hardocp

MSI P55 GD80 reviews:
guru3d
hardocp
overclock3d
hardwarecanucks

ASUS Maximus III Formula:
overclockersclub review
bit-tech
xbitlabs
hardwarecanucks
tweaktown

As you will see, all (3) of these mobos will get you to 4GHz with a i5 750/760 cpu. Other mobos that were mentioned can do the same thing. You should just eliminate all the hoopla that's going on in this thread, continue to Google for 1156 mobo reviews that you are thinking about buying and make your choice. Trust me when I say this...it's much better if you do some research yourself instead of just going by someone's opinion alone...bias or non-bias
