Thread Starter
I am upgrading from one SSD to 2 for a RAID 0 config. Im wondering if my model # on the drive I have now is SSDSA2M080G2GC do they have to be the same model numbers to work right?

No, they don't have to be the same model numbers. You can miss match ssd's if you want but it's best to use SSD's with the same controller. If they are both G2's you should be fine.

here is a good place for Notebook SSD help http://forum.notebookreview.com/hard...dvice-792.html

it would be the most ideal if they were exactly identical ssd's.

it's kinda like mixing ram--it doesn't need to be identical, but it would be much more ideal if it were.

The only differences among the Intel 80GB varieties are what come with the drive. The firmware and NAND are the exact same.

Go to control panel>Backup and Restore>create a system image>create a system repair disk.

Set BIOS to RAID mode > create the RAID array (control+I at post on my mobo) >boot to repair disk and install backup image to the array.

After Windows restarts you will have to go to disk management console and right click your C: drive and extend it's size to the new larger capacity.
