Quietest gaming mouse click ?

Thread Starter
My gaming sometimes disturbs my girlfriends sleep. The PC is whisper quiet but my MX518 click isn't. Need a great performance mouse with quiet buttons. Any ideas ?

My razer Deathadder isn't too loud, a trackball should be a better option for silence, most mouses are pretty loudish. i would wait for the opinion of other OCNers

I don't recall the MX518 being that loud.
I once had a MX518, wish I still had it so I could compare it to a Logitech G500 or my Intellimouse 3.0.

But from what I remember the MX518 and the G500 sound very similar. And the Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0 is noisier than the g500, so I'd stay away from that. I'll write to you if I find something. thumb.gif

EDIT Perhaps you'd want to check out Quiet Mouse. I don't know how they are for gaming, but I am pretty certain that they're quiet biggrin.gif

90% of all mice use the same Omron switches, which are clicky, 75g, 0.5mm travel.

None of the alternatives are noticeably quieter, to my knowledge. And few mice list what switches they use.

I have a G9x and It's loud so cross that off your list if you are building one!

Ahh this might make this search futile frown.gif She just woke up and asked who I was chatting to. I told her I was discussing mice, she replied its the tapping of the keyboard that bothers her more rolleyes.gif

You could probably get some quiet scissor switch laptop keyboards.

Yeah I figured the keyboard would be noisier. Which keyboard are you using?
Edit I just read from some post at another forum that the Microsoft sidewinder keyboard(and mice) should be very quiet.

What mainly disturbs your girlfriend must be all the bigger keys on your keyboard(shift, caps, tab, space, enter, etc), since they have metal bars under them. Perhaps taking off these keys and putting something under the metal bars(some soft material, don't know which you'd prefer) would kill a lot of the sound. smile.gif

Just take a piece of paper and jam it under the end of the mouse button. It requires a similar amount of force and makes much less noise.
